Earthy Experience at WLCI Design School

What does the combination of mud, clay, water and pair of experimental hands have in common?

They have an extremely innovative output and this was proved at a recent clay-modeling session at WLCI’s Advertising and Design School.

The students were extremely excited and they had already a whole lot of expectations from the session; fortunately no one was disappointed. Bags and bags of excellent quality clay was brought by the mentors for the experimentation and after an initial ice-breaking activity, all the students got their first hand experience at clay modeling.  The clay was given a good mix with water and other binding agents and then given a ‘good-beating’ to make a dough that would have the perfect consistency and hold the design and the various permutation and combination the artist would do to create their work of art. After the mixing process was over, the creative bunch of ‘Design School’ got experimental and got their hands dirty in making what they had envisaged to create, which was nothing short of a masterpiece!

The students created various objects out of the clay-such as masks, lamps, quirky objects, mud-clocks, jewelry, and even planter-pots. Some got a smooth output for their evenly handcrafted surface and some others had an overall 3D affect.  The students let their creative juices flow and all in all the entire experience was lively and enriching and left the students happy with what they had achieved.

They thanked their institute for organizing such an interactive session and some of the students confessed that they would love to attend some more workshops of a similar kind!
