Review of WLCI Design School - Nepal

WLC Design School Nepal adds a new feather in its cap, the WLC design students comes to the aid of the well-known Nepal airplanes fleet-Yeti Airlines. For long the domestic airlines of Nepal has been planning a refurbishing. In this overhauling process, it was aided by the premier Design school of Nepal. The students worked out a plan on the exterior look of the aircrafts and executed it with precision that got applaud from the professional airlines company!

Yeti airlines are one of the largest airline fleet in Nepal and surely the oldest. The airline has served the isolated population of Nepal living in far-flung mountain areas by providing the only means of transportation and connection to the outside world.

Yeti Airlines Domestic Pvt. Ltd. started operations with two DHC-6/300 Series 'Twin Otter' aircraft flying to remote areas with STOL (Short Take Off and Landing) airports. It remains dedicated to the cause of serving the Nepalese people and now it has a re-furbished fleet with a swanky new livery conceptualized and painted by the WLC Design Students. Yeti Airlines have thanked and formally appreciated the help extended by WLC Design School.

Is WLC College Satisfying Students

Certainly!

Many students can vouch for WLCI College, in terms of living up to the promises. For instance when our Design Institute students are counseled, they are promised :-

  • Exploratory Workshops
  • Industry Visits
  • Live Projects
  • Internship Opportunities
  • Exhibitions showcasing Student’s Talents
  • 100 % Placements … and much more.
These commitments were met for our Alumni – Rohit Dhamija. With WLCI he was given many opportunities and his talents were fully exposed. Ms. Deepti Baweja, HOD (Head of Department) for the Advertising and Graphic Design School in Delhi, recognized his talents and nurtured him to dream big.

Dhamija has surpassed everyone’s expectations and the WLCI Team wishes even greater things for him. In the year 2012, he won the Ad Age’s Global Cover Contest for his Art Work and Design. He spoke about his concept – “The world coming together on a single street.”

Ad Age editors were intrigued of the seamless concept. Abbey Klaassen, an editor at Ad Age commented – “It just really stood out, we loved the detail”. Check out his design as compared to the other entries, below.

Earthy Experience at WLCI Design School

What does the combination of mud, clay, water and pair of experimental hands have in common?

They have an extremely innovative output and this was proved at a recent clay-modeling session at WLCI’s Advertising and Design School.

wlci review

The students were extremely excited and they had already a whole lot of expectations from the session; fortunately no one was disappointed. Bags and bags of excellent quality clay was brought by the mentors for the experimentation and after an initial ice-breaking activity, all the students got their first hand experience at clay modeling.  The clay was given a good mix with water and other binding agents and then given a ‘good-beating’ to make a dough that would have the perfect consistency and hold the design and the various permutation and combination the artist would do to create their work of art. After the mixing process was over, the creative bunch of ‘Design School’ got experimental and got their hands dirty in making what they had envisaged to create, which was nothing short of a masterpiece!

The students created various objects out of the clay-such as masks, lamps, quirky objects, mud-clocks, jewelry, and even planter-pots. Some got a smooth output for their evenly handcrafted surface and some others had an overall 3D affect.  The students let their creative juices flow and all in all the entire experience was lively and enriching and left the students happy with what they had achieved.

They thanked their institute for organizing such an interactive session and some of the students confessed that they would love to attend some more workshops of a similar kind!

WLCI Design School reviews - Indian Ambassador Car

WLCI Design School takes a last look at the very Indian Ambassador Car. The maker of the 'Ambassador' has halted production of the iconic car which for long has been the choice of Indian officialdom.

wlci review

Citing weak demand and a lack of funds and casting doubt on the future of a vehicle that has looked essentially the same for nearly six decades, 'Hindustan Motors Ltd' has said in a statement it had suspended work at its Uttarpara plant, outside of Kolkata, until further notice.
Modeled on Britain's 'Morris Oxford', the 'Ambassador' was the first car to be made in India, according to the company, and was once a status symbol. But it began losing its dominance in the mid-1980s when Maruti Suzuki introduced its low-priced 800 hatchback.

With no design changes and no up gradation in technology, the 'Ambassador' car has lost its sheen in the past decade. It has now remained the choice of a dwindling share of bureaucrats and politicians, usually in white with a red beacon on top and a chauffeur at the wheel. It is also still in use as a taxi in some cities.
